Going to a Sea of Stars
Staying at a beach at night is very calming. I have gone to beaches at night, and there weren’t as much as people there anymore. It’s quiet and calming, and it would still be enjoyable if you weren’t swimming too, just watching the sea move in and out of the shore is entertaining. When there’s less people there I can do more things like throwing sand at one of your friends without it hitting somebody else too, or more fun things like that. It’s less crowded and I can have a good time to relax. The water wasn’t as clean and clear, but I still enjoyed it.
Sitting along the shore, I want to admire the stars drifting on the shore. I would go on an airplane and have to take boats or even better a speed boat to get there. Before leaving I would be full of excitement and joy because I would be able to experience something new, and visit the sea of stars.
I can understand or more importantly sympathize with Salva and the rest of the clan people as I am also usually separated from my other fellow students in a multitude of ways. When the rebels separated the women and men it reminded me of a time where in my old school we would always separate between genders. The boys always lifted the heavier stuff while the girls did lighter things to carry. Whenever you have to do something that consists of lifting something up, the teachers always pick the boys instead of the girls because they are considered to be stronger. Salva was pretty much excluded by both of the groups because he was the oldest kid out of the children group so he was an outcast but too young for the men group. Salva could only fit into the middle but there was no middle ground; there were only two groups not three. During team exercises or team projects, I’m most likely the person to get booted off the team as I’m both social and non-social. Since I’m social I can fit into a group easily and flow with the conversation but since I’m not social it takes me time to warm up to someone and I don’t make new friends easily. In the story they first got split into clans then the rebels came and took them altogether to the camp. It’s like how my classmates and lots of other students are also usually sorted out by classes/teachers. Then, the speaker turns on and tells us to come to a class which is usually the gym. It can be for a multitude of reasons, assembly, switching classes, etc. Now, I think that’s all the ways I can have empathy towards them getting separated from their fellow clan members.
